I needed to compare volatilities for a gaggle of stocks, so here's a spreadsheet:
You do this:
- Type in a bunch of Yahoo stock symbols.
- Download 5 years worth of monthly prices with the click of a button.
- Calculate the volatility of the monthly returns.
- Multiply by SQRT(12) to "annualize".
- Sort them by Volatility.
>And that's useful?
To me.
>And I just click on the picture to download the spreadsheet?
Always.
>I notice that the spreadsheet is called "30-volatilities", yet I count 34 stock symbols.
Actually it's 35.
>Then isn't "30" an odd number?
Actually it's an even number.
